This is a slowly building searchable database of words and media on the nature of art. It is intended for use as a discussion aid and educational resource. -

Please contribute! If you have found a quote, book, video, or any other content you think is inspiring or challenging, send it in. If you would like to create a response of any kind, email it along with your name, what you do, and when the response was created.
An example would be Marcel Duchamp, Artist, 1917.
You can be as specific as you like or as abstract. Content can range from academic and analytical to personal and humorous.

There was a bit more jovial ribbing on labels in the brief interview (a little cleaned up from the emails):
WIA: Fair enough, Jonathan. I’m glad you do what you do, in any case.
Jonathan Harris: By the way, you can use that as my quote, if you like.
I like your site’s concept.
WIA: I very well may. I forgot to ask. If I put your quote up, is there a word you would like after your name, before the date?
Jonathan Harris: You could say, “Computer scientist”
Or, to be coy, you could say, “Artist”
WIA: Maybe I’ll throw a slash in there. Thanks.
